Cookie Policy

Status: Not yet in effect — draft

Short, because there is not much to say: we use cookies to keep you signed in, and that is close to all of it.

The whole story in one line

Skill.re sets no advertising cookies, no profiling cookies and no analytics cookies. There is currently no analytics product installed on this site, so there is nothing to consent to beyond keeping you signed in.

What a cookie is

A small file a site stores in your browser so it can recognise you on the next request. Without one, signing in would not survive clicking a link.

Which cookies we use

CookiePurposeTypeLasts
Session cookieKeeps you signed in as you move between pages. Without it you would be signed out on every click.Strictly necessaryUntil you sign out or the session expires
Sign-in stateCarries your verified sign-in from the authentication popup back into the site.Strictly necessarySession
Embed sessionOnly on pages where Skill.re is embedded in another site. Carries your session into the embedded app as a cross-site cookie.Strictly necessarySession
CloudflareSet by our network provider to route traffic and filter malicious requests.Strictly necessaryUp to 30 days

Strictly necessary cookies do not require consent under EU and UK rules, because the service cannot function without them. That is why you are not seeing a consent banner — not because we skipped it.

A note on the embed

When Skill.re is embedded in someone else’s website, the embedded app carries your signed-in session on a cross-site cookie. Some browsers — Safari by default, and Chrome depending on settings — restrict these. If the embed shows you as signed out on a partner site, that restriction is usually why. There is an alternative embed mode that does not rely on cookies at all, and partners can choose it.

Third parties

We load web fonts from Google Fonts, which means your browser makes a request to Google when a page loads. That request does not set a cookie but does reveal your IP address to Google. Everything else we load is served from our own domain. Our full list of processors is at /subprocessors.

Controlling cookies

You can block or delete cookies in your browser settings. If you block the strictly necessary ones you will not be able to stay signed in, and the platform will not work — you can still read the whole public catalog and every lesson.

If this changes

If we ever install analytics or any non-essential cookie, we will update this page and add a consent control before it runs. We will not quietly start measuring you.
