What we have built for, what we have not tested, and how to get help if something blocks you.
Skill.re has not completed a formal WCAG 2.1 AA audit, so we do not claim conformance and we have no VPAT. Saying otherwise would be easy and wrong. Below is what is actually true today.
Our commitment
Learning is exactly the kind of thing that should not be gated by how you read, hear, or use a pointer. We treat an accessibility barrier as a bug, not a feature request, and we will prioritise one that blocks you from completing a course.
What is in place
- Semantic structure — real headings, landmarks, lists and tables, so a screen reader can navigate rather than read a wall.
- Keyboard access — interactive elements are reachable by keyboard, with a visible focus ring, and each page has a skip link to the main content.
- Responsive layout — pages reflow to narrow viewports and support browser zoom without a horizontal scroll.
- Reduced motion — animation is suppressed when your system asks for it via prefers-reduced-motion.
- Readable defaults — dark text on a warm light ground, body text that respects your browser font size, and no light-grey-on-white body copy.
- Labelled controls — form fields and icon-only buttons carry accessible names.
What we know is not good enough yet
- No formal audit. Nothing here has been verified by an accessibility specialist or against the full WCAG 2.1 AA checklist.
- Colour contrast is unverified. Some secondary and muted text may not reach the 4.5:1 ratio.
- Screen reader testing is incomplete. The lesson player in particular — the surface that matters most — has not been tested end to end with NVDA, JAWS or VoiceOver.
- Course material varies. Lessons come from providers. Video captions, transcripts and image alt text depend on the provider, and we do not yet enforce a standard.
- No accessibility conformance report. If your procurement needs a VPAT, we do not have one. Tell us — it moves the work up the list.
If something blocks you
Email [email protected] with Accessibility in the subject. Tell us the page, what you were trying to do, and what assistive technology you use. We aim to acknowledge within 3 working days, and if something is blocking you from completing a course we will find you a way through while we fix it.
