Problem Solving and Critical Thinking
This course develops the critical and creative thinking skills needed to approach workplace problems systematically and develop effective solutions. Rather than simply reacting to problems, you will learn how to define an issue clearly, investigate its underlying causes, consider different possibilities, and make informed decisions. You will begin by exploring the characteristics of a well-defined problem statement and techniques for identifying and analysing root causes. These skills will help you move beyond addressing symptoms and develop a clearer understanding of what is actually causing a workplace problem.
The course then introduces techniques for brainstorming and generating creative solutions, encouraging you to consider multiple approaches before deciding on the most appropriate course of action. You will also explore decision-making frameworks that can help evaluate alternatives and select effective solutions based on the situation. Importantly, the problem-solving process does not end once a solution has been implemented. You will learn why it is essential to measure the success of a solution, evaluate its impact, and make improvements where necessary. By completing this course, you will develop a structured approach to critical thinking, creative problem solving, decision-making, and continuous improvement in the workplace.
